Although the Bronze Pelican is ordered through the National Catholic Committee on Scouting ® office, it is a diocesan award with diocesan requirements. Consult with your diocesan committee for availability and requirements.
THE BRONZE PELICAN EMBLEM
The lay leader in Scouting, is constantly influencing the youth of the Scout program through good example, insistence on the observance of the moral principles found in the Scout Oath and Law and a systematic program of discipline and training, which the Scout experiences as he/she participates in the scouting program. This influence on the boy cannot be measured or fully evaluated. Recipients of the Pelican Emblem must be exemplary in the practice of their faith.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Nominee must have completed the Spiritual Formation on Scouting (Lay Apostolate Formation for Scouting.) (This maybe waived if a non-Catholic recipient.)
2. The person must presently be registered as an active member in the Boy Scouts of America for a minimum of five years as an adult Scouter.
3. Nomination for the Emblem is made for the Scouter by an interested party.
4. The prescribed Catholic Committee form MUST be used in making a nomination for the Emblem.
5. Application must include a letter or recommendation from a member of the Parish Staff of the nominee, attesting to his/her active participation as a member of the parish community.
6. The person submitting the nomination, or their Troop is expected to contribute the cost of the emblem.
